This thing’s come a long way since we started this exhibition. Wasn’t it a great floating city to begin with – a Europe city that spanned the channel? Why did we give that idea up?

Perhaps because of the purely visionary nature of the idea it’ll be years before there’s a political set-up sufficient for this to come into being and anyway with communications, closed circuit TV we may not want to live in cities any more. Year, I think that’s where Kiesler and Schulze Felitz with his space frame city fall down.

The thing gradually materialises ……

Covering the earth in its net.

As liberators of ideas they are tremendous but their technology can only answer today’s problems. So we ended up doing a Science Fiction city, a THING in the sky. 
A gigantic war machine like a zeppelin or a missile. Aliens from another World, space drama.

This thing could be a vast net encircling the earth or it could be the molecular structure of a virus.
